Centrum Architects were engaged following a successful design competition to renew the home of Victoria’s 2nd largest Hockey Club (KBH Brumbies) with over 500 members. The project included a new facility, joined with a renovated existing facility in Mont Albert North featuring 6 changerooms, supporting spaces and a new multi-purpose social space.
The design took inspiration from the shared horse-mascot of both the City of Whitehorse and the club (KBH Brumbies) and the shapes of a running herd. The flowing lines of the horse’s backs and collections of angled legs was abstracted to an architectural tectonic of a curving roof and angled columns.
The project was completed in late 2017 and handed over to a proud and grateful club and community.
