This permanent new home for a retiring couple fully explores the potential this amazing site has to offer with expansive views of the ocean from its cliff top position.

Almost every room has a view of the water as the house stretches along the site and snuggles into it. Large viewing areas of double glazing ensure the environment and its many changing moods and hues become an integral part of the spirit of the interior.

The plan form is conceived in three linked rectangles with large areas of glass to the southerly view and operable highlight windows to the northern sunshine. An entry courtyard creates a protected sunny haven to the north for all year-round outdoor living and an opportunity to establish a microclimate.

With a neutral palette of natural materials this this environmentally friendly house features smart passive and active solar energy design with systems for hydronic heating, domestic hot water, electricity, and cooling.
